This is an open roundtable, so feel free to forward this to anyone you think might be interested in being a part of this discussion!

Please visit the iGIANT website to learn more about our mission and the impact these roundtables have one furthering discussions that are integral to sex/gender-related topics.

Update: Thank you so much to Abigail for her roundtable!

Below, are insights that participants noted regarding gender biases and inclusivity, specifically in education.

Samantha Kirn: "This was an insightful discussion on gendered biases in leadership, where I learned that women are often perceived as more controlling even when taking on the same roles as men. We can reduce these biases through training that puts a focus on diverse communication styles."

Sara Samuel: "I thought the meeting went well and I liked how I didn’t feel alone when the other ladies were able to express how they feel in a group setting with others. Typically, we don’t hear issues like these from our peers, so this is a refreshing moment to know you’re not alone."

Afrin Pajulullah: "In the meeting, I learned about communication and collaboration issues faced by marginalized groups such as POCs and gender minorities that can possibly hinder their ability to contribute to work, school, or other group settings. We also discussed how to fix these issues, like creating team accountability systems."

Pooja Magesh: "From the roundtable meeting, I learned different ways to resolve issues marginalized groups face when engaging in teamwork. One example is to create mentorship programs to encourage more minorities into leadership positions."

Annica Pereira: "I learned a lot from this meeting, such as how to involve myself and others when in group settings through making team collaboration a fairer experience."
