Where Discoveries Begin: The National Science Foundation Hosts iGIANT Roundtable

On April 2, 2018, the National Science Foundation (NSF) hosted an iGIANT roundtable discussion on the theme of ‘Inspiring Innovation in STEM’. The event challenged and engaged NSF employees to not only personally view the world through a gendered lens but also be ambassadors for catalyzing change.

During the iGIANT roundtable, employees gained deeper insight into some of NSF’s ground-breaking research related to gender-specific issues in the fields of information science, biological engineering and the science of broadening participation. As the discussions continued, the momentum for information sharing, innovation, and gender-specific research catapulted. Participants began to realize how the gendered lens might be applied within a wider range of NSF programs and could propel research and innovation for gender-specific design, products, programming, and policy.
